STAR HOLES:

Star holes refers to a hole in rock which has lobes.  The number of lobes varies from 3 to 7 or more.

PEACEMAKER'S STAR HOLES:

Many five point star holes are found in and around Peacemaker Rock in the southwestern Shasta Valley.

A portion of Peacemaker Rock was quarried around 1960.  The quarrying was done with star drills.

Three star bits are still there because no one could get them out after they had jammed.

DARTMOOR STAR HOLES:

Dartmoor National Park in Devon, UK has photos of a star hole and some round holes in a rock.  The hole photos are the first two on their web page.

VOLDA STAR HOLE:

The Volda seven point star hole created a bit of a stir in Norway in 2007.

FLICKR PHOTOS:

Photos of star holes in rocks found by searching Flickr.  Rachel Carter and chimphappyhour may have photographed the same hole in Zion National Park.

Andrew's holes are square.
